Main Features

Holdem Manager comes with all the standard features you would expect: detailed statistics including previously unavailable 3-betting data, hand replays, bankroll graphing, tournament support, a full heads up display (HUD), and complete customization capabilities. While somewhat intimidating at first use, Holdem Manager is well organized and presented in a rather intuitive fashion. Once you are comfortable with the default information that is provided, there are a virtually unlimited amount of customizable reports that you can run against the data to analyze it. By doing detailed analysis of your poker playing you can find the spots in which you are losing money and plug up the leaks. You can also find spots where you are not extracting enough value and learn how to maximize your wins.

The default screen that most players will use most is the “Reports” tab in the cash game section. This reporting tab lets you customize exact what data you want to display. You can view only certain statistics and filter based on limits, game types, hole cards, position, etc. etc. etc. The number of combinations is practically endless. Holdem Manager comes with a variety of default reports which will provide all of the most important information in a manner that is easy for beginners to access.

Another feature that is commonly used is the “Graphs” tab. This lets you create a visual representation of how much money you are winning or losing over a period of time that you select. This graph is flexible and can be graphed in dollar amounts, big blinds, or big bets. You can save graphs in jpg or png formats with a simple right click, which makes sharing or archiving them a simple task.

Holdem Manager uses PostgreSQL for its database, which is a free and open source database option. It is not very resource intensive, so even users without the latest in computer equipment will be able to run Holdem Manager fairly smoothly. The heads up display (HUD) can bog down computer when used on many tables, but as long as you aren’t going to be playing more than 4 tables this should not be a concern. If you will be playing 8 or more tables with HUD you should make sure that your computer is up to date with recent hardware and enough memory to support Holdem Manager.

One of the best features of Holdem Manager is its fully featured hand replayer. The hand replayer shows in a HUD all the statistics you have on each player at the table, as well as an easy to read text hand history off to the side. The action can be played back, paused, and skipped to any point in the hand. The pot size and the pot odds are displayed in a convenient location that makes it simple to analyze your actions in a mathematical manner.

The heads up display that comes built in to Holdem Manager is excellent. It provides for extensive customization to put exactly the information you want in exactly the spot you want it. Not only can you customize the small portion that shows on the table, but also the large pop up window that provide much more information that is vital when making critical decisions. All of the statistics in the HUD can be color coded based on their value. For example, if you would like to identify loose players more easily you can customize the HUD so that any player with a VPIP (voluntarily put money in pot) of >50% will have their name displayed in bright green.
